I got XP to boot for no apparent reason. System menu did not appear (though I once brought it up by clicking below the visible bottom of the screen). type bootsect /nt60 ALL /mbrthis was the only command that ended up writing over GRUB while allowing the windows loader to remain intact with both partitions. I verified which partitions SliTaz recognized as available by using the installer's List menu option (See Figure 2). done. I am using an ACER 430 travelmate. I got rid of ubuntu but not grub. Not sure quite how to un-hose this; I'd just like to put a conventional netbook Ubuntu on the built-in SSD, but I can't trivially do that from Backtrack 4.
I can boot into Linux fine.
