Well, I ended up changing the region on my mac, as I'm going to be here a while etc, so I figured at least I can see if it works... this only happens for certain DVD's. Also: I have a newly purchased 1.5 GHz Powerbook with Mac OS 10.4 Tiger. http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/dvd-player-copy-protection-error-70025.668634/ Any other suggestions?

Your options are to either locate an RPC1 (region free) or auto-reset firmware for your drive from rpc1.org or buy an external enclosure and drive to do your ripping.
Many of the Superdrives used in iMacs and Macbooks (Matsushita and Hitachi/LG) don't even allow access to the encrypted sectors if the disc and drives regions don't match.
